The Place Of Ritual

If we understand the where of ritual we are closer to understanding the why of ritual. That is, understanding where ritual takes place is a key to understanding the place ritual takes. The intent of this article is to explain both of these; the why in terms of the where.

The Story of Miach and His Sister

(This story was written in thanks to three Celtic gods of healing, for my wife's successful surgery and lack of malignant cancer.)

It is said in the Book of Leinster that:

The Two Powers: An Alternative For Large Rites

There has been some discussion on the Liturgy list about the effectiveness of the Two Powers Meditation at large rites.

The Vision of ADF

What makes ADF different from other Neopagan traditions?

Here is how we see it:

The World Tree

The Worlds and the Kindreds

The Three Realms: The universal pattern of the four 'elements' is understood by Celtia differently from the broader magical movement.

The Yuletide Blessing

A rite of feasting in the Norse tradition. The text of the going and returning of the sun, and a few other portions of the rite, owe a great deal to Yule text from Kveldulf Gundarsson's recommended work "Teutonic Religion".

Thexalon (Dave Kleinschmidt)
My life in ADF:

I met Stone Creed Grove, ADF in the spring of 2007, and officially joined a year later. I was attracted to the skillful ritual working, the scholarship, and the mission of public pagan worship.

They Watch and They Wait (Nature Spirits)

“They Watch and They Wait”

Lyrics:

Thingstide Ritual

The musical signal will be given to call the folk for the ritual.

D1: Wir sind hier um die Goetter zu Ehren.

Folk: We are here to honor the Gods.

Thingstide Rituals

Thingstide, also known as Hlafmaest, was the first harvest of the year. It corresponds to the Celtic high day of Lughnasadh or Lammas, and is associated with the general concept of harvest, so that loaves of bread are often baked and shared at a grove's ritual.

Three Hallows & Three Worlds Chants

The following chants are appropriate for the part of the ADF liturgy where we set up a Sacred Well, Sacred Fire, and Sacred Tree.

Timing: An Essential Element in Things Magical

Just ask the average suburban seven year old two days before Christmas. Perhaps you still have that child inside you?

To Hermes

God of the herm which is constructed on the borders:
you pass through as well as keep out.
Pass through my prayers, my offerings, to those I worship;
Pass through as well their presence, their blessings, to me.

To Xausōs (PIE)

Opener of the gates of the sun,
of the Shining One,
Open the gates to the gods,
to the Shining Ones,
Open the way for my prayers,
Rising One.
